Our comprehensive home inspections include all the major components and systems on the property. The inspection will typically start on the exterior where we look at everything from the driveway to the roof system. We will then move inside, starting in the attic and ending in the basement. Maine Inspection and Engineering works closely with several local oil companies to have a qualified heating technician evaluate the heating system at no cost to the client.

Lead Paint Testing:
Many homes built before 1978 have lead-based paint. The federal government banned lead-based paint from housing in 1978. Some states stopped its use even earlier. Most lead paint can be identified upon site by a qualified inspector which is included in our inspections at no additional charge. Lab verification is available upon request.
Radon Testing in Air and Water:
You cannot see, smell, or taste radon. But it still may be a problem in your home. When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. The Surgeon General and The State of Maine recommend testing for all homes for radon and fixing homes that have high levels.
Water Quality Testing:
The United States has one of the safest water supplies in the world. However, national statistics don’t tell you specifically about the quality and safety of the water coming out of your tap. That’s because drinking water quality varies from place to place, depending on the condition of the source water from which it is drawn and the treatment it receives. The EPA doesn't regulate private wells, but recommends that well owners have their water tested annually.
